About Me

Hi! My name is Rory O’Sullivan. I’m currently a program officer at the Gates Foundation where I’ve worked on variety of education policy issues ranging from data systems to federal financial aid. Before joining the foundation, I co-founded Young Invincibles (YI), a national advocacy organization dedicated to expanding economic opportunity and political voice for young adults ages 18 to 34. Much of the impetus for this project came out of lessons learned at YI, augmented by the broader perspective a funder’s perch affords. I am also lucky enough to serve on the board of directors for the Campaign for College Opportunity and the National Skills Coalition. I have learned much from the exceptional leaders involved with each.

All of the perspectives I share here are my own and do not reflect the position of any of the organizations listed above. I will assiduously avoid specific positions on their substantive issues. It may be tempting to read into these posts as comments on my current affiliations, but I can assure you it almost always comes from reflection on my own experience and wish to help others avoid the bumps and bruises accompanying leadership “lessons learned.” If you’d like to contact me, do reach out at roryfosullivan@gmail.com or through LinkedIn.
